Elementary General Music and Special Education: Focus on the Self-Contained Classroom

with Dr. Patrick Ware, NBCT

All students have joy inside. Through the Schulwerk we seek to help them share that joy with the world.

Dr. Ware will discuss all aspects of working with students with special needs from decoding an Individualized Education Plan through working with (and without) teacher assistants. Examples of active music making with be shared and discussed. We will discuss adaptations and modifications including adaptive communication devices and adapted music making equipment.

Following this workshop participants will be able to better plan for, support and instruct students with special needs.

It would be beneficial for participants to have read a least one I.E.P. in the days preceding the webinar. Participants should attend with some mechanism for taking notes. A brief outline will be provided but the need for detailed note taken may arise.

You will be given access the workshop recording and downloadable materials from the presentation.

A certificate of completion can be provided to participants who request one for professional development hours.
