Webinar: Classroom Lessons Through the Lens of the Schulwerk

The Orff Schulwerk process of singing, saying, moving, and playing can be used to teach far more than musical skills and techniques. Join Kate Bright, Liban Gómez, and Jeaneau Julian as they share cross-curricular experiences they have explored with their students. Kate Bright will demonstrate how biology, astrology, and earth sciences can turn into music and movement. Jeaneau Julian will use Alexander Ramsey Calvin’s Ruth and the Green Book to explore social studies and geography using speech and music. Liban Gómez will focus on exploring math concepts, specifically geometry, with rhythmic speech and Ed Emberley’s The Wing on a Flea: A Book About Shapes.

Participants will come away with new ideas for preK-grade five performances and ways to showcase the exciting learning happening in music class. You will receive notes and materials presented in the session in your copy of the slides.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email that will include directions to access the recording and downloadable materials.

A certificate of completion can be provided to participants who request one for 1.5 professional development hours.

Please reach out to our team at [email protected] with any questions.

With all best wishes,
